Puffin Squawks
The puffins of Machias Seal Island enjoy the protection of a migratory bird sanctuary. They arrive en masse in late May to nest among the rocks. Males guard the rocks above the nest and bring food for the female and chicks. It is pandemonium of squawks and bills clicking each other as these colorful and playful birds await the young fledglings.
