Puffin Profile
Getting close to puffins is easy - once you get to Machias Seal Island. The island is a migratory bird sanctuary with limited visitations. About 2 dozen visitors per day are treated to an refuge about a mile long and about 1/4 mile wide. Blinds have been built and groups are allowed just an hour to photograph in an environment that belongs to the birds, not humans.
